Get To Know Matt McDonald

Hi! My name is Matt McDonald and thanks for coming to my website! When I was a kid, I hand-coded websites for my parents’ friends. I would capture photos, develop the film in my high school darkroom, scan pics in and used the school’s copy of Photoshop to design graphics for those early sites. I also worked for my high school newspaper and wrote stories about everything I could. I’ve always loved every part of the creative process, and that passion continues today.

Because I wanted a home for all my creative projects, I bought this domain name years ago (someone else already owned MattMcDonald.com) and have kept it ever since. Under the name EqualityDesigns, I launched a clothing company, published a magazine, ran a design agency, and now use it as my personal portfolio.

Today, I’m a new media entrepreneur and creative consultant with years of experience building websites, campaigns, and brands; producing photo and video content; managing projects; and driving visibility through SEO and ad strategy. I’ve worked as a photojournalist, spent time in the action sports industry, entertainment, music, and tourism industries. I’ll always be a journalist at heart, telling stories about the City of Seattle and capturing moments at local events.

Over the years I have been hired by lots of agencies to do behind the scenes work. Sometimes I would even sit on calls and pretend I am part of their team. I decided to start working directly with small businesses and people I like directly. By all means I still do some agency work, but I hope to find more local businesses I can focus on helping grow.
